Which is the most important thing to know about you?

We make good cheesecake!

How did you get to the concept of “nomadic furniture”, with projects like Diy Service Wagon or Mobile Hospitality?

It was more a process that derives from how we live our life. We like food culture, we like eating together with people, we are traveling much from exhibition to exhibition… Inspiring is also the behaving of people to each other in cities and in villages. You know, it’s difficult to describe what actually has lead to these projects, as they are just a part of our lives.

Why in your opinion we need multifunctional structures?

We think that the quests developed in our society get more and more complex and in many cases a simple universal answer like the modernism gives is unfortunately a compromise. So we believe that you often need a complex answer for a complex question, translated to design, you need more functions.

What inspires you most?

Behavior of people depending on culture and everyday objects in hardware stores and prefabricated industrialized materials.

The concept of “nomadic furniture” is not just social design, but actually public architecture: what’s the meaning of “boundaries” today?

Boundaries have a negative connotation. In the 60s and 70s the aim was to break every kind of boundaries. Today boundary also gets another meaning, about the boundaries of possibilities, the boundaries nature makes, boundaries that our society, our wealth and industrial development have crossed. These are boundaries, that we just realized some time ago, that they even exist, how could we ignore them for so long?

Which are the 60s and 70s architects and designers that inspired your living structures? It seems that there’s a return to the modular structures, isn’t it?

It’s clearly inspired by the work of Viktor Papanek and James Hennessey. Sure these structures have a comeback. Every concept in design and architecture comes back every 20-30 years and then stays because society has developed to understand a concept or it gets forgotten. The whole era of modernism was so avant-garde for the biggest part of society, that many furniture pieces needed until the 60s and 70s to actually get accepted, and for big parts of the society, the modernist architecture is still not understandable in a formal way.

What are the pieces you most love-and why?

We have in our studio a B3 chair from Marcel Breuer, it was always a dream to possess this iconic piece of furniture that has broken with the classical image, what chairs shall, how they should look like, how many legs they should have and so on. It’s a piece of furniture that released the chair!

You said that “objects can communicate beauty, simplicity and even ethics”, and actually you really managed to do all this. How did you get it?

Thank you very much for the compliment, I don’t know how to explain the process of our work. I think that we create functional quests, like with Mobile hospitality, we never actually thought we should design a kitchen. We have thought, we should design something to bring people together in the city, this leads to questions, what this object shall communicate and so on… So we are making in some way a personal call for our objects and that’s how they develop.

How did you start your collaboration with the brand COS?

They just called and asked if we would like to do a project for them, so we did.

On what are you working right now? Something special you like talking about?

At the moment we are working on some commissions and beside that we are thinking of new projects, of how we should profile ourselves.

We are developing many small projects that actually get to the prototype but are in some kind of way sketches to free our mind from formal language and materials we have used in the last projects.

A carpenter.

If you’d have to pack your life to move away, just with your most beloved stuffs, which of your pieces would you carry with you?

Stuff I don’s use often, because I don’t have time. Water color set, sketch book, analogue middle format camera, cake form.

Chaos. Notebook, mobile, different things to measure, lamp fittings, screws, nails, sketches, pencils, bills, paper, cardboard, tools…
