Florence is much more than a beautiful tourist city, and thanks to its fascinating and antique history can make everyone fall in love with it – even those that happen to wander through the streets by chance. But do you think that the city is immutable? Make no mistake, it’s not. In fact, many different stores have recently proved this belief to be wrong. How? With an extremely interesting hybrid concept and a combination of old and new, proposing different things and offering multiple activities.

First of them, there is La Ménagére in via de’ Ginori, 8, which perfectly stands for the whole category: it’s a cafè-bistrot, restaurant, flower and kitchen/home utensils shop. Not to mention that during the weekend it’s possibile to enjoy live jazz concerts in the peculiar basement. La Ménagére was born with the aim to give a second life to the historic Florentine shop that was previously located here. And as a successful result, the architectural elements, both romantic and urban, represent at the same time the frame and leading character of the space.

Todo Modo owes its name to the homonymous book of Leonardo Sciascia, and combines an independent bookshop with a small cafè-restaurant (this one called “Uqbar”, as a homage to the famous J. L. Borges short story).
The two owners are the soul of this little gem in via dei Fossi 15/r: trust them blindly if you need to choose something from the shelves or the menu. Todo Modo is special because of its cosy atmosphere, the the literary selection and the delicious food, that make it the perfect place also for a lunch, a yummy break or a happy hour. A “theater” is also present, that serves as a reading room or as a place to relax and take part to events and showings.

Cereal, Kinfolk e Apartamento are just a few of the magazines you can find at Bjork. But do not confuse it with an international newspaper agent! What we are talking about is a contemporary fashion concept store, which strength lies in the offer of carefully selected brands and indie publications. Everything is chosen in the respect of a well defined aesthetic. At last, the bonus side is the position in via dello Sprone 25/r, just around the corner of Santo Spirito, the Santa Trinita bridge and above all the lovely Piazza della Passera.

At some point of your wander(lust)ing around Florence, perhaps right after crossing the Ponte Vecchio, you will eventually get hungry. If so, Amblé is the perfect answer to your necessities thanks to their DIY sandwiches, salads, smoothies and cocktails. The location is actually the key to the charm of this retro-styled bistrot: the piazzetta dei Del Bene offers a shelter from the city chaos and a nice space where to chill and talk. And you can also buy vintage furnitures here: in fact, it’s possible to shop everything you see (or sit on).
